The framing of the door opening on interior of the garage should be prepared with a flush mounting surface for the garage door hardware. This area must remain clear with no obstructions.
The flush wood mounting surface is constructed using 2x4 or 2x6 framing material .

MILLWORK SPECIFICATIONS

FRAME: 1-1/8" Finger-joint, Kiln dried HEM/HR

FACING: 5.5 mm Exterior Glued Luan plywood (#141) bonded to both side of frame with waterproof contact adhesive (NO STAPLES) OPTIONAL FACING MATERIALS: 3/8" M.D.O., Medium Density Overlay plywood (#143)
Note: M.D.O. plywood is PAINT GRADE ONLY, NO STAIN

OVERLAY: 5/8" Clear Western Red Cedar (Standard) is bonded to the Facing with exterior adhesive and
stainless steel pin nails, the concealed side of the overlay is back-cut to prevent twisting and warping. OPTIONAL OVERLAY MATERIALS:

  • (1) Redwood
  • (2) Fir
  • (3) Many other select woods (Specify)


CORE: 1-1/8" EPS, Polystyrene insulation

WINDOWS: 1/8" DSB (Standard) stopped and sealed in place, many other types of glass are available and optional (Specify)

ARCHED TOP: 15'O" radius (Standard), other radiuses are available (Specify)
DESIGNS: Over 200 designs are offered, some include windows and arched tops, special designs are available when detailed drawings are supplied

SECTION HEIGHT: The maximum section height is 32", the maximum recommended height is 28" (standard) for ease of operation
up to 7'O" in high =3 sections, over 7'O" to 9'4" =4 sections, over 9'4" to 11'8" = 5 sections, over 11'8" to 14'O" = 6 sections
PACKAGING: All sections shrink wrapped and protected with cardboard, V-Boards are positioned on both edges of each section (Standard), other packaging available

HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS

TRACK: 2" Industrial Grade Galvanized angle mounted verticals and horizontals,
2LC-6" Low headroom clearance (Standard), standard lift 25C-15" radius also available and can be used depending on overhead clearance and section height

HINGES: Single Car through 12'2" wide, single-end 14 GA graduated galvanized Double Car over 12'2" wide, double-end 14 GA graduated galvanized

ROLLERS: 2" Steel race and stem; 40 ball-bearing commercial, Single Car = Short stem.. Double car = Long stem

STRUTS: Doors through 15'0" wide, one 2-1/4" galvanized strut per section Doors over 15'0" through 18'O", one 3" galvanized strut per section

COUNTER BALANCE: 10,000 Cycle Torsion Sprints, galvanized aircraft cable with minimum 8 to 1 safety factor, Cast aluminum cable drums, 1" diameter torsion shaft/tube.. doors under 500# = 11GA tube Doors 500# and over = solid core steel shaft (keyed) and coupled if exceeding 151" in length

FASTENERS: Cadmium plated fasteners (Standard) for on door hardware and securing tracks to jambs, end hinge fasteners are factory installed with bolt heads concealed beneath the overlay (concealed bolts)

OPERATION: Manual push-up (Standard), no lock assembly supplied.
Electric operation recommended for best possible operation

Note: Each Heritage Classic Door is handcrafted, lead times will vary. The above specifications are consistent with doors not exceeding 18' wide and 10' high. Requirements escalate with size and weight, and do have limitations.
