Six parts do the work on a rolling fire door
It is a rolling steel door with one more job: closing by itself. Pick a number to see what goes wrong and what we do about it.
Hood, barrel and springs
The curtain rolls up on a steel barrel under the hood. Springs inside the barrel balance the weight, so the door can be lifted by hand, chain or motor and set back at the top after it has closed.

Fire door repair questions we hear most
Not on the list? Call and ask. A person answers.
Call 425-776-5162Our fire door dropped and will not go back up. What now?
Call 425-776-5162. The line is answered 24 hours a day, and an on-call technician can come out nights, weekends and holidays. A door that has released needs resetting at the release. Forcing it up with the operator can do more damage.
Do you repair fire doors you didn't install?
Yes. We repair rolling fire doors and fire-rated counter shutters of any make, including ones another company put in and ones that came with the building.
Why does our fire door keep dropping?
Usually a worn release, a stretched or bumped link chain, or an alarm signal or a loss of power at the release. Tying the release off hides the fault and stops the door closing in a fire. It is a repair, and usually a small one.
Does this opening need a fire-rated door?
Building and fire code decide where a fire door is required and what rating it needs. Your fire marshal or building official can tell you what applies to your building. Once you know, we can repair the door you have or install a new one.
Do you work on fire-rated man doors too?
Yes. Fire-rated steel pedestrian doors, their frames, closers and exit hardware are on the pedestrian doors page.
